I find that what is happening in Libya is indeed a profound tragedy, one of those for which only John Donne may have the right words:
No man is an island, entire of itself
.
Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the Earth
.
If a lump is taken away by the Sea,
the Earth is diminished,
as if a promontory were in place, or a mansion
friend or your own home. Every death of a man I
output decreases,
because I am involved in Mankind.
So never send to know for whom the bell tolls: It tolls for thee
.
He adds:
Every real man should feel the slap on his cheek given to another man.
Ernesto Che Guevara
I am convinced that none of us will ever be happy on this earth that we will not be up to everyone.
